Agriculture in the Central Valley
Agriculture in Stanislaus County covers everything from apricots to walnuts. Farmers in this county grow over 250 commodities and produce value added products, which are shipped worldwide. Agriculture represents over $1.3 billion gross dollars and one-third of the county's jobs. Stanislaus County is the number seven agricultural County in the state. The Modesto plant, built in 1969, is the largest almond receiving facility in the world. More than 140 million pounds can be stored in the warehouses for processing and shipment. The store offers a 20-minute video about almond growing and processing, as well as almond tasting and a wide range of nut products.
