Home of the Historic Graffiti Cruise Route
Welcome to Modesto, the city that greets you with a smile. Our warm, friendly people give Modesto the feel of your hometown, with the amenities and attractions of a big city.
Modesto’s central location puts you within a short drive of the ocean, mountains and some of the nations most renowned parks. Day trip options from Modesto include San Francisco, Sacramento, and Yosemite National Park among many others.
Our mild climate makes outdoor activities enjoyable year round. Modesto is in the heart of one of the greatest agricultural areas in our nation, the fertile San Joaquin Valley. Dairy products, nuts, fruits, wine grapes, and poultry products are some of our top commodities. If you visit during early spring, the beautiful orchards in bloom will delight you. May through November is harvest season. You can “taste Modesto” at our Farmers Market and the many fresh produce stands in the area.
Please take advantage of our many amenities. Play a round of golf, picnic in one of our many parks, explore our antique shops, or visit one of our museums. If you are a little more adventurous try nearby river rafting, hiking, or jet skiing.
Modesto is the birthplace of George Lucas and the inspiration for his popular film American Graffiti. Throughout the month of June you will find everything from street fairs to classic car parades, concerts, and showings of American Graffiti as we celebrate Graffiti Summer. So pull out those Poodle Skirts and hoola hoops and join us for the festivities!
You simply can’t go wrong in Modesto. We have something for everyone. If you’ve been here before, come see how we’ve grown. You’ll find the same cozy city with exciting new attractions. We look forward to showering you with hospitality.
